Where I Work
Park Day’s commitment to social justice, environmental sustainability and progressive education led me to join the staff in 2008. Here, I am challenged to grow and think, contribute and engage. The school culture is such that each child is known and seen. This attention to the health of the whole child has made a me a better teacher, one who seeks to understand how best to build communities, support families, develop empathy and curiosity, and to provide a learning environment where equity is at the heart.

Working with Teachers
Research confirms that teachers are the single most important factor in raising student achievement. In 2004 I began my work with Math Solutions. As a consultant, I provide teachers with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the math they teach and how children best learn mathematics. Helping teachers learn effective strategies to improve their math teaching is the highlight of my work with Math Solutions. I love the excitement in teachers’ faces when they begin to make connections and understand the link between their content knowledge, the classroom and curricular decisions they make, and what children learn.
